A Wise Woman Once Said…
The right words of wisdom and encouragement at the right time can literally change your life. I know this because I’ve lived this. In times of stuck-ness, shaky faith, discouragement and fear, I have turned to wise words to pull me through. Wise words can give you just the attitude adjustment you need to send you down a happier path.
These are a few of my most treasured quotes that have lived on my bulletin board, refrigerator, screen-saver, post-its on my computer, in my wallet, and wherever else it can serve as a daily reminder. Jot down the ones that resonate with you and keep them close to your heart.
WORDS ON COURAGE:
“Never grow a wishbone, daughter, where you backbone ought to be.”
~Clementine Paddleford
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
~Maryanne Williamson
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
~Anais Nin
WORDS ON CHARACTER:
“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”
~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
“Well behaved women rarely make history.”
~Eleanor Roosevelt
WORDS ON LIVING:
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”
~Maya Angelou
“I finally figured out the only reason to be alive is to enjoy it.”
~Rita Mae Brown
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
~Helen Keller
