Success Habitude

Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

If you want to know why people are successful (or not), take a look at their habits. They are very telling. Habits include behaviors, such as what time they get up, how often they exercise, their communication style and so on. It also includes their mindset, such as how they deal with stress, what they focus on, and their thought patterns.

These collective habits are what I call the Success Habitude. Your Success Habitude may have a slightly different make-up of behavioral and mindset habits, but will also likely have many similarities with other successful people. If you’re not achieving the level of success you want, observe and adopt success habits of those you admire.

Here are seven great habits include to get you started:

  1. Get-up early. Successful people get more done before 10:00AM then what most get done in a day.
  2. Prioritize self-care. Successful people leverage the mind-body connection and use exercise, sleep and healthy diets to keep their minds and focus sharp.
  3. Set goals. Successful people plan their days, weeks, months and years and work diligently towards their goals. They do not waver from these goals.
  4. Know your priorities. Successful people are clear on whats most important to them and design their lives around those priorities.
  5. Eliminate time-wasters. Successful people use their time well, and don’t waste time on mindless activities such as television or internet surfing.
  6. Invest in education. Successful people invest their time and money into continual education for both personal and professional growth. They never stop learning and growing.
  7. Practice gratitude. Successful people take the time to appreciate and be grateful for what they have. Rather than consistently focusing on what they don’t have, they live from a place of  abundance.
