You gotta work it!
I’ve got one question for you – how are you doing on your goals? This is the time of year where it’s easy to get distracted by the day to day busyness and goals fall below your radar.
This past weekend, my bestie came to visit and we celebrated the big goals we’ve already hit for 2013. We certainly have more to go, but it’s exciting to be off to a great start.
Want to know the secrets to achieving your biggest goals? Today I’m sharing the simple, powerful formula. HINT: Don’t let the simplicity fool you – it’s real potent stuff.
1. Set it. Here’s where a lot of people get it wrong. Most people don’t SET goals, they wish for them. Setting goals is deciding that you ARE going to complete this goal no matter what and are willing to do whatever it takes. So don’t put your goal out there with a hopeful feeling – set it with determination.
2. Break it. Big goals can be overwhelming and cause paralysis. You’ve got to break it down into small, doable steps – sign up for that class, submit that application, make that appointment, etc. Stay focused at the task at hand and don’t worry about the rest. Before you know it, you’ll be crossing that finish line.
3. Work it. Hustle. Get to it. Get that tush in gear. You’ve got to take action. This may seem obvious, but you’ll be amazed at how many folks get caught in the web of still thinking about it. Taking action is what separates achievers from dreamers. It’s okay if you don’t know what you’re doing or aren’t sure of next steps. Ask a friend, take a class, Google it, read a book – hustle to figure it out, because you can.
Reaching your goals feel awesome, but you’ve got to earn it. Don’t be afraid of the hard work, because you’re more capable than you think you are. Challenge yourself. Push yourself. Get outside that comfort zone.
