Clarity comes after action

Imagine, you’re traveling through the thick woods (with no cell reception) and the narrow dirt path you’re on suddenly splits into three. Do you veer left, go right or go straight? The answer is, it depends on where you’re trying to get to.

We all like clarity – on our dreams and goals, next steps to grow our business and which path is the right one that will make us happy. We want to know where the road will take us, before going down it. Without clarity, it’s hard to choose.

So what gives us clarity? Sitting at the crossroads certainly won’t.  Yet how often do we procrastinate and wait around for the clouds to part and be hit with a bolt of clarity lightening? As you probably have experienced, this rarely happens.

In the thick, dark woods without a cellphone or compass, you won’t know which is the right path until you choose one and it brings you desired destination, or it doesn’t. You must take action before receiving clarity on if your getting warmer or cooler from your end goal.

If you don’t know what the right next step is to grow your business, move towards your goal or discover what you are really passionate about, start by taking action – do something. Action will bring about more clarity and you’ll be able to make better decisions for the next action step. That action will bring even more clarity. And so the cycle goes.

Just remember – clarity comes after action, not before.
